The E-EYE treatment is your solution!

Millions of people worldwide suffer from dry eyes. Therefore, it is not surprising that in this context there is also talk of a real widespread disease in Germany. Over 20% of all patients who go to the optician or ophthalmologist suffer from Sicca syndrome. This type of eye disease is manifested by inadequate production of lacrimal fluid.
If there is a lack of tear fluid or if it evaporates too quickly, the cornea and conjunctiva dry out and an unpleasant feeling of dryness occurs. A healthy eye, on the other hand, produces enough tear fluid and thus protects the cornea and conjunctiva from drying out. With Afidera’s innovative e-eye treatment, dry eyes and Sicca syndrome can be treated sustainably.
The disease results from damage to the tear fluid. This is accompanied by the loss of the protective film of the tear fluid. This dysfunction can have two different causes: either too little tear fluid is produced or the tear film evaporates too quickly. According to scientific studies, a majority of patients suffer from too rapid evaporation of lacrimal fluid.
This form of sicca syndrome indicates the absence or lack of formation of the lipid-containing layer of the tear film. The lipids consist of the secretion of the so-called Meibomian glands, which are located on the edge of the eyelids.
The Meibomian glands release an oily fluid (lipids), which ideally mix with the tear fluid and thus ensure its longevity. If the glands are disturbed, they do not lose enough lipids and the lacrimal fluid evaporates faster, which in turn leads to dry eyes.

Red eyes or a foreign body sensation in the eye are constant companions of Sicca syndrome patients. Frequent blinking of the eyes, annoying burning or itching may also occur. Accompanying this, visual disturbances can develop.
In addition, anatomical changes can also occur: the designs of the Meibomian glands narrow due to infections such as barley grains or hailstones as well as conjunctival infections. Regular check-ups with the ophthalmologist can clarify whether you have Sicca syndrome.
An innovative form of therapy in our 8 locations. This Afidera treatment uses a new type of pulsed light technology to activate the nerve fibres of the Meibomian glands.
At the same time, the important lipid production is indirectly influenced. The therapy with E-Eye is characterized by a fast and safe form of treatment. The patient is treated with the pulse light for a few minutes and can perceive an improvement and relief of the dysfunction after the first treatment.

The applied IRPL technology (Intense Regulated Pulsed Light) is the only method in the world that is certified for the treatment of the meibomian glands. In pain-free therapy, the patient wears metal eye protection cups during the short treatment.
The discontinued light pulses of the E-Eye device stimulate the Meibomian glands and stimulate their secretion and there is an improvement in the durability of the tear fluid. Stressful symptoms such as painful, itchy, burning or inflamed eyes can thus be reduced or, ideally, disappear completely.
Ideally, you should schedule at least three sessions. Depending on the severity of the Sicca syndrome, further sessions may be required.
Scientific studies have shown that 90% of patients have already noticed a significant improvement after the first treatment. Over 60% of all patients have been shown to have sustained activation of the Meibomian glands.

This treatment is the only certified therapy in the world for the treatment of the meibomian glands. It is offered at the Bányai Eye Laser Center and is suitable for contact lens wearers.
This method can also be interesting for people who work a lot on the screen and suffer from extremely dry eyes with increased work in front of the PC and dry room air. Even with this so-called office eye syndrome, therapy with E-Eye can be a way to alleviate the symptoms.
Exact costs are available on request. The E-Eye treatment is not covered by the statutory health insurance.
