In our eye laser treatments, we work with the currently most modern eye laser in the world, the Zeiss brand apparatus: VisuMax® Laser.
The innovative and powerful laser system relies exclusively on state-of-the-art femtosecond technology and ensures extremely accurate, fast and, above all, very gentle treatment.
That is why it is used in our laser eye surgery center for both procedures in the course of the ReLEx® SMILE treatment and the femto-LASIK treatment.
Thanks to the VisuMax® laser from Carl Zeiss, the SMILE Pro process combines state-of-the-art femtosecond technology and precise lenticle extraction, so that minimally invasive corrections for myopia and corneal curvature (astigmatism) can be carried out without any problems thanks to the innovative technology – even in extreme cases.
With the SMILE Pro treatment with the VisuMax®, a refractive lenticle is created in the intact cornea and removed through a small incision. An opening of the cornea (“flap”) – such as in the femto-LASIK procedure – is therefore not necessary. This also enables the complete maintenance of corneal stability and functional tear regulation.
In addition, working with the VisuMax ® also makes it possible to prepare the lenticle accurately and predictably into the cornea. Thanks to the exclusive use of the proven femtosecond laser technology, a better prediction of the results is possible.
Since the complete refractive correction can be carried out in a single treatment step on the VisuMax ®, no change of treatment site is necessary. As a result, the patient benefits from a shorter treatment time and greater comfort during the entire treatment.
Due to its innovative character, the VisuMax® is not only used in the course of the SMILE Pro procedure, but also replaces the previous femtosecond laser IntraLase, which was used for Femto-LASIK treatments.
In the first step of the Femto-LASIK treatment, the VisuMax ® creates an extremely precise, flap-like access in the cornea of the eye and thus represents a great enrichment for an efficient treatment process.
As before, in the second step of the Femto-LASIK treatment of excimer lasers, the actual correction of farsightedness, nearsightedness or corneal curvature is carried out.
