What exactly are pollen?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pollen is the germ cells of seed plants, and is therefore a central element in their reproductive process. A resistant membrane \u2013 the so-called sporoderm \u2013 protects the pollen grains from environmental influences. Safely sheathed, they make their way into the seed nodes of another plant to fertilise it. Only then is the seed formed, which should eventually grow into a new plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For most types of pollen, the size of the pollen grains is between 10 and 100 microns, and the way they travel is also different \u2013 either via<\/p>\n\n\n
